Images from Vienna, 2001

Cecilie, Marton and I stopped off in Vienna for a day on the way from Hungary to Denmark. The architecture was beautiful, but after the combination of frantic excitement and laid-back mellowness in Budapest, I found Vienna to be expensive, uptight and oppressive. In all fairness, I was tired after the week in Hungary and my tolerance must have been pretty low. I'd like to go back and experience it again, but not perhaps until I see some other cities first.

Images of some of the better examples of 19th century architecture in the city. I usually go for more modern styles, but there were so many of these masterpieces in the city, it was difficult to remember which structure was which.
