Vancouver and Seattle

I'm going to go into radio silence mode again for a while. I just got back from a trip to Sweden (no sleep), and am off in a couple of hours for Vancouver and Seattle for a week. Seattle's going to be all business, though I hope I get a chance to at least go shopping--I've got a wish list and the dollar is really cheap right now. Vancouver should be cool though. I've always wanted to see the town and I'm going to meet Deborah, who said she'd show me around. With any luck I'll run into William Gibson again--I'll keep my eyes open.

I'm listening to the BBC feed and they're talking about the Supreme Court decision in Ukraine that invalidated the dodgy presidential election there which would have brought Kuchma's man Yanakovich to power. They're going to re-run the election in three weeks, and the UN and OSCE are going to be paying very close attention to the polls to make sure the funny business in Eastern Ukraine doesn't happen again.

I kind of wish that elections in the US were held to the same standards of scrutiny and honesty as elections in Ukraine. The world might be a better place.

Okay, must pack.
